The average player
how much money do you think the average gw player should have, I have 3 PvP characters, 1 level 20 prophecies PvE character and the 2 level 5 factions characters, I've had prophecies since may and factions since july, I have 60k overall. I think that's lower than average.
Just in other people's opinion (I'm not saying I'm an average player) what an average player should have in terms of characters and how much money they should have. |

Lol, I always thought the average player was constantly broke because they always buy better armour and weapons. At least, that is what I did.

I think Anet once wrote about the average money players had. If I remember correctly, most users had between 20k and 70k. Of course I'm an exception

About 800 hours on the clock, I've never gotten past 50K without seeing something shiny I wanted...
In practice, this was probably a bad move, since I've never been at the threshold where "it takes money to make money" kicks in. I'm also not particularly interested in haggling for top prices for my drops, so it's not like I've not had opportunities to make a lot more. |

I think I read somewhere that 75% or 50% of GW players have less than 15 or 20k.

Do you want to count armor/equipment in what you consider 'average money'? Because that would make a huge difference. Sure, most players may only have 20-50k on hand, but take myself for example. 30k in the bank right now, but I have about 2mil worth of gear on my characters!

As Milias said, most gw players have less than 20k, and I think it's because they want "perfect gear" and waste their money, when collector Items do just fine.

About 500 hours playing, 70k.
No 15k armor, no bought weapons (all found or collector). Frankly, I don't think you can be much cheaper than I am. So, I'm probably what an "avg" player could make if he didn't farm, just played the game and didn't waste money. On another note, it seems money is easier to get in Factions. My Necro already has 13k, at 30 hours, much more than my other characters had at that time. (he's taken no money from my bank). |

In more than 1 year of GW I've never had more than about 50k. That may not be much, but I never felt like I NEED much more money. I was always able to buy the skills and armor I wanted. I never felt the need to go farming or to trade much with other players. I spend money as I gain it.
Having said that, I never went for high end items. Stick to cheap crafter and collector stuff. You get 90% performance for 10% of the price, compared to prestige armor and green weapons. |

I've been playing since april and have around 80k
I have 15k armor, but the armor and materials and runes for it all came from the sale of the best chest drop I ever got. My Ranger (only char I realy use) has about 20 bows only 1 of which I bought, the rest I got in trade or drops. I also have "Treasure Hunter lvl 3" title as well as "Adept Skill Hunter lvl 2" title, so I've spent PLENTY of money. It comes and It goes. |

I think it greatly depends on your goal in-game. If it is to have fun and play the game, then money is probably not your biggest concern, and you will probably have all the money you need through questing and doing missions. However, if you plan to hoarding "perfect" items, then yea, that's a different goal, and it certainly costs more.
Personally, lately, I've been trying to get Protector of Tyria titles for all my Tyrian toons. So I haven't increased my monetary worth by very much, but I am certainly getting closer to those titles |

1600 hours over 15 months..
75k in storage atm, and going up, aiming to keep it hovering at 100k. 5 sets of 15k armor on different charas, rest having Drok's armor (10 slots total, 1 PvP) I'd estimate that I've worked something around 600k-800k gold in total during what I've played, never been very happy on farming (some ettins on my Warrior and few trolls on my monk, tho trolls were mainly to get skillpoints to get the elites) Most of the gold is in my 15k armors, monk has 180k invested elites alone [Advanced Skill Hunter wee]. Never been very eager to get super gold stuff, so mostly collector gear with bought/salvaged mods on top. Prolly most valuable purchase I've made from other players has been Yakslapper for 10k back in the day, and only other gold weapon purchase (just for the skin) was my purrfect Righteous Maul, for something like 7k :\/ |
